Avoid accidental "upsaving" when multiple versions of InDesign or QXP are installed.
There's a common problem when there are multiple versions of applications like Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator installed on the same computer. Double-clicking a file's icon will often cause the wrong application version to launch. As a result, you might unwittingly re-save a document into a more recent file format, which could be a bad thing. Maybe it's a customer file, and the customer might not be able to open the updated file when you e-mail it back to her. Soxy fixes the problem by working as a 'stand-in' for these applications, a bit akin to a traffic cop. To use Soxy, you have to reconfigure the Mac Finder so it uses Soxy to launch files with specific file name extensions, instead of using their 'normal' application. In the Finder, you would right-click or control-click any of the document file icons that Soxy can support, and select Get Info. Then you change the Open with: application popup to Soxy, and click Change All. Once that done, you can forget about versions - simply double-click any document and it'll open in the matching version of the app instead of opening in the latest version.
