Kangas Sound Editor QI for Mac allows power users to delve deeply into the process of creating music and design their own sound waves, including custom melodies and musical instruments. This application holds a lot of power, but is also hard to pick up due to its steep learning curve. If sound waves aren't your thing, you won't find much in it.
Kangas Sound Editor QI for Mac installs via an 11-step process that is fairly straightforward; unlike its sibling, Kangas Sound Editor for Mac, this version of the app comes bundled with its own database engine and doesn't need to rely on MySQL. The app's interface is cluttered with options and with graphical representations of sound waves, making it daunting at first. It even allows you to customize the different graphs and waveforms it features. In terms of structure, the app is split into ten tracks, each of which adds additional complexity to your sound wave. For testing purposes we created a basic track and tried exporting it, which took little time: about five seconds for a 20MB file.
