Running a registered version of Shredit for 10.5 OSX. Ran the programme to shred a folder with photos on a memory stick. I was astounded to find that by running a very basic file recovery programme the photos were easily recovered from the memory stick after shredding. Ran Shredit again and the same recovery was achieved. Ran the programme again and then shredded the freespace on the memory stick. This time the photos were not recovered however the recovery programme clearly identified the 13 photo files that were still on the disk after the freespace wipe. I am sure that a more sophisticated recovery programme could recover these.When CNet reviewed the product previously it was found that the programme did not work for folders only files - my experience would support the view that the product does not do what is claimed by the manufacturer.As this company also produces the Netshred it cannot be assumed that Netshred does what it claims.
