classic game is back and better than ever before
Scrabble Editor's review
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.This piece of software is quite acceptable to begin with. However one soon realizes there are some major shortcomings. These become apparent as one starts to increase one's skill level. There are major holes in the ability of being able to work with the on board dictionary. There are bugs and omissions in the selection of user preferences. The documentation although complete in many respects is lacking in the area of the actual program's execution. For example, the interface of player and levels. This writer could continue with comment however it would be a waste of time. This program is circa 2005 and here we are 5 or 6 years later. A lot has changed in that time in the area of the machine and the OS which run it, not to mention the accepted verbiage in the language. It is my impression of MacGamehouse that they are aware they have here a cash cow. This is a well known product and a popular game, they are banking on that. Most people will pay there money and for a little while put up with the flaws but eventually move on to more polished products. For the Scrabble game there are Mac alternatives, perhaps not perfect but with improved execution. It is my hope the developer will read this review and decide that thought and action should be given to a major revamp of this product. This product in its current presentation by this developer is outstanding. However it needs to be updated and polished to meet the demands and expectations of today's Mac computer user. (Mid 2009)Respectfully submitted.
