Double-clicking the title bar of a window, will reduce the window to the hight of a title bar only, thus allowing you to see your desktop or whatever is behind the front window. Double-click the title bar again, and the window will restore from the Dock. No need to navigate to the Dock to find the window you just minimized--it's exactly where you left it.
