Users who need to edit video contained on DVDs need a program capable of ripping the video into an editable format. DVDxDV for Mac, with its features and excellent instructions, is a great option for those who want to edit DVD video using other editing programs.

DVDxDV for Mac downloads from the developer's Web site quickly and the installation occurs without any user intervention needed. After accepting a licensing agreement and going through an initial setup, the user is taken to a menu with tutorial videos. These provide instruction on using the program and sending the files to a video-editing program. For new users, these videos will help them use the program more easily. Technical support is available for program updates. The program's menu was well designed and even novice users will be able to use it easily. DVDs placed in the Mac drive automatically load in the program and list available titles for conversion. Beyond simple conversion, there are few features available. Further, working with copy-protected DVDs requires an additional program or workaround in order to load them for converting. For homemade videos, the process performs well and output is as expected. The program is available as a free trial version, which places a watermark on output video. The full version requires a $19.95 payment to remove the restriction.
