Apple iDVD (Classic) Editor's review

iDVD is a simple-to-use software program for assembling DVD-Video discs and recording them on your Macintosh. For the first time, people everywhereâ??not just a small cadre of trained Hollywood professionals and multimedia producersâ??can easily create DVDs that can be played in most standard DVD players. Every day, more and more people are able to view DVDs on their TVs or computers. iDVD lets you share your movies, music, and pictures with one of the worldâ??s fastest-growing audiences. Just drag your QuickTime media files into the iDVD interface. The software automatically makes buttons and adds a thumbnail image from your video. You can design the look and feel of your DVD by importing your own pictures or by selecting one of the many great-looking themes included in iDVD. iDVD converts your files into the format required for DVD with its fast and efficient MPEG Encoder. And because iDVD is highly integrated with the DVD-R drive in your Power Mac G4, you can burn DVD discs with a single click. DVD-Video discs are the ideal way to share the movies and pictures you create on your computer. Much of the image and sound quality of digital media is lost when dubbed onto VHS tape. But DVD retains digital-quality images and sounds. In addition, DVDs are more compact and more durable than videotapes. iDVD is available only with the purchase of certain Power Mac G4 systems that come with the DVD-R (SuperDrive).
