iFlicks Editor's review

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.This is the tool I've been hunting for (and trying to write myself!) for years - I cannot think how it could be simpler, you drop TV episodes onto it and it goes away, figures out what show and episode it is and throws it into iTunes with everything done. (Regardless of which popular method you've used of naming your episodes Firefly/Series 1/01 Serenity.ext, Firefly 1x01 - Serenity.ext and Firefly.S01E01.Serenity.ext all definitely work!)I've had one crash (I loaded a very large number of TV episodes in first) but I've tagged a few hundred episodes since without a hitch. Support from the developer is rapid and concise, though I can't see any reason you'd need to get in touch - the developer really has taken a leaf out of the apple design book for this app, it is just that easy to use.Its still a young app, though you can bundle XviD format data losslessly into a mov (which will work in iTunes, provided you have perian installed) or even transcode video into an iPhone/appleTV friendly format as you go along, you can't have an m4v as an output, though this really has very little consequence and has already been chalked up for a release in the near future. The best bit? The 14 day trial period you get as a demo doesn't restrict you to the number of videos you can tag, or the amount of time you can run it - just try it out, I bought it within an hour, it really is that useful.
